I am very delighted to present the new volume of International Journal of Information and Management Sciences (IJIMS) through the plat form of Pakistan Librarians Welfare Organization (PLWO), Lahore – Pakistan. Initially, the first issue of this journal was published in 2012, under the chief editorship of Dr. Muhammad Haroon Usmani, Chief Librarian, University of the Punjab, Lahore. But in 2017, the leadership changed and this is the first attempt of new editorial board of IJIMS.
Dr. Usmani and his team really did a good job to launch this journal for the librarians’ community in Pakistan. This journal is the first attempt of any private association in Pakistan and makes new trends in the region. I congratulate Dr. Usmani and his team for their wonderful work for the professional community.
This issue has 6 articles, related to the theme of the journals. To know the similarity index of the manuscript, all documents gone through the plagiarism software named Turnitin and then the process for double blind peer review have been done. The sole purpose of these activities is to enhance the quality of the journal.
The Editorial Board has also planned to index this journal in different but well reputed indexing agencies in the world. This will ultimately enhance the readership around the globe and consequently will create good impacts in the professional development. This year, we have also planned to apply in Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) for the recognition of IJIMS.
I am really very much thankful to all the editorial members of IJIMS who have worked hard to make this journal in current final shape. I also would like to pay thanks to those who have served as reviewers for IJIMS and sent their feedback well in time which was necessary to develop and publish high quality material. Thanks to the Patron of IJIMS, and President of Pakistan librarians Welfare Organization (PLWO) for their support and guidance. Finally, I really want to thank to all the authors of manuscripts who submitted their papers for the publication in IJIMS.

Emergence of internet, creation of electronic resources and usage of electronic medium for learning purposes are some core elements of technology which are getting worth in academia. These technological tools are being accepted and their use is also increasing day by day for learning purposes. Academic institutions are widely shifting to technology based learning by using different mediums of edevices and softwares. In this study, multi-dimensional software “Turnitin” was examined as a source of elearning tool in large size universities of Lahore, Pakistan. Turnitin is being utilized all over the world mostly for text matching services. However, it has some learning based factors therefore the researcher(s) strive to explore the role of “Turnitin” in e-learning. Four universities from Lahore, Pakistan were selected. Purposive sampling technique was adopted to gather the data from those faculty members who have instructors’ accounts in Turnitin. Results of this study indicate, that “Turnitin” plays an imperative role in certain aspects of e-learning and the majority of respondents use it for multiple purposes.
Employees are the important asset of any organization. They make the organization a successful and renowned in the environment and among competitors. Success and smooth functioning of the organization can be maintained by minimizing employee turnover. Employee turnover can be curtailed preferably by using cybernetics approach. Organizations must consider environmental circumstances, employees’ needs and wants while formulating/designing strategies and policies so that the ratio of employee turnover can be minimized. Some time employee turnover is beneficial for the parent organization and mostly it is harmful because it reduces the effective performance of the organization. The objective of this study was to investigate the reasons which affect employees to switch over job, factors which motivate them to join another competitive organization and ways to reduce employee’s turnover in turbulent environment of Library and Information Science (LIS) profession. In this quantitative study, a self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data from the participants. Population of the study was LIS professionals across Pakistan, who have proper accounts on social media like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin etc. A convenient sampling technique was used to the get the data from the participants. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the gathered data. Market based inadequate salary, lack of proper appreciation/acknowledgment, job dissatisfaction and demotivation were four major factors which force and compel an employee to leave one system or organization. Better opportunities, satisfactory salary package, bright future and professional development/growth were the four major factors which could be opted to reduce employee turnover in turbulent environment of the organization as these were noted the motivating factors which attract the employee to join another system (organization). Findings of the study are helpful for competent authorities of the organization, administration of the libraries and policy makers to minimize employee turnover and also helpful for organization’s management to understand leading mechanism to manage employees efficiently and effectively.
The article comprises of illustrations that elaborate relationships seen in context of coordination and cooperation within the present technologically advanced organizations. The significant role of theory is to give in detail the explanation of the said concept. It means that the theory of organization will facilitate in comprehension of what organizations are and the way organizations work in a particular environment and how organizations function in various contexts. This has been established as a consequence of the methodical study of modern organizations. Therefore, it is vast implications for several types of organizations. It also rejuvenates the ideas about the concept of organizations and administrating them. Organization theory essentially caters the organization level of analysis such as planning, design, structure, change, development, politics and culture. With reference to organization phenomenon, the investigation studies the productivity of the organization. The objective of the article is to critically examine the complicated process of cooperation and coordination related to the modern organization. The study focuses on models of organization such as the system model and the contingency model. According to the deliberations of the study, the article also focuses on Mintzburg’s model for understanding the concept.
